The Ultimate Course for Getting a Job in Your 20’s

  • Course
  • 32 Lessons

Few students graduate from college knowing what they want to do with their lives. If you are struggling with choosing a career path, or linking your chosen major to a potential field, this course will serve as a roadmap—helping young adults just like you to identify your strengths and interests, and find internships and early jobs that are valuable and meaningful to you.

What you'll get out of this course

The challenge of deciding on a career in your 20’s

With 70% of high school graduates attending college today at tuition rates resembling the purchase price of a home, the failure of so many new grads to get jobs during Covid, and the enormous growth of online education, there are huge pressures on the traditional college degree. What gets neglected at students’ and their parents’ peril, is the training focused on helping young people make the connection between their interests, education and long-term work.

How do you convert a degree in religion, English or psychology into a career? How do you find and secure coveted internships as a first step to any career track? The focus is 100% on getting into the “right” college, and yet upon graduation the majority of students find themselves at sea, without the tools or support to successfully launch their careers.

🫶 By the end of the course, you will:

  • Have a well defined vision for your career
  • Establish a firm goal and structured plan to embark upon your ideal career path
  • Create a personalized and prioritized list of potential employers
  • Own a networking plan and facility with making connections to people who can help in your career and job search
  • Craft a personal statement that tells The Story of You
  • Feel confident about phone, Zoom and in-person interviews
  • Know how to answer some of the most challenging interview questions
  • Improve your resume and LinkedIn profile to get responses
  • Know how to follow up, negotiate and close the deal
  • Feel confident about what you have to offer those who are in a position to hire you, both short- and long-term

✅ This course is right for you if you are:

  • A late-stage college student, recent grad, or have graduated within the past 10 years
  • Eager to learn how to land a job that aligns with your interests and values
  • Willing to do the work following the framework and assignments

❌ This course is NOT for you if you are:

  • Looking for quick results and finding a job immediately
  • Unwilling to learn new things and go through the recommended assignments
  • 35+ with extensive career experience looking for mid-level or senior positions

Hi, it's Allison Cheston!

Here's how I can help someone like you.

Long-term career and life planning and job search requires a focused, iterative process that the majority of college grads are ill-prepared to undertake.

As a Career Advisor to young adults and established professionals, I’ve lived and breathed this work for the past 17 years. The stories and advice I share throughout this course are designed to help young adults consider how to mine early life, school, work, and extracurricular experiences for clues about what interests them and how to go about connecting the things they care about with a career path.
